Social Murmurs is a socially aware portable bench surface. As visitors sit on the bench sounds are produced demonstrating, or sometimes dictating their emotions towards the context of their current arrangement. This project developed out of an interest in emotions rising from varying degrees of personal space from others while in a public setting. Those sitting on the bench are surprised to hear their thoughts exploited and become more aware of people?s common seating behaviors, while the overdrawn sounds often create a humorous experience.
